Rev Nathan Thackray - Senior Pastor

Nate has come to SBC from St Clair Baptist. He is married to Esther, and they have two beautiful boys, Jeremiah and Raphael. Nate is passionate about seeing people respond to the God of Scripture, who graciously moves towards us in His son Jesus, offering us a way to be in a relationship with him and live authentic and full lives as we follow Jesus.

Annie Hunter - Associate Pastor

Annie has been attending Springwood Baptist since the age of 13 when she first joined the youth group. She has been involved in youth ministry at this church and in the wider community for a number of years and became part of the staff team at the beginning of 2014. Annie is passionate about Jesus and loves nothing more than seeing young people meet and become whole hearted, all in disciples of their king. It is an incredible gift to be able to walk with teens through the hard years where they are forming their sense of self and help put Jesus in that picture. Best. Job. Ever!

Stephen Krimmer - Associate Pastor

Steve has been involved at Springwood Baptist Church for the past 17 years with his wife and two children. Having recently completed studies at Morling College he serves in ministries relating to families and men’s ministry. Steve enjoys being a part of the worship team and loves encouraging everyone to move one step closer to God on a discipleship journey.

James Curran - Student Pastor

James has been around Springwood Baptist for as long as he can remember, having grown up in the church. Serving alongside his wife Beth, he has served the youth of Springwood Baptist since 2016, with a passion for helping others to understand what God says in his Word and helping them to grow in their faith. James is currently studying part time at Morling College to train for pastoral ministry.

Kath Weekley - Children and Families Worker

Kath first began attending SBC in high school when her family moved to Springwood in 1992. Since then, whenever she has been in Australia, Kath has continued to be a part of the SBC community, serving in various ministries—particularly children's ministries.
In 2013, Kath began serving in Chad, where she has been sharing the good news and walking alongside Chadians in their journey of faith and growing in their knowledge and dependence in Jesus.

Kath finds great joy in seeing both children and adults grow in their knowledge of God and their relationship with Jesus. She is passionate about walking with others in their faith journey, as we all depend on God's grace for all of us.

Virginia O'Bree - Pastoral Care Coordinator

Virginia has been attending Springwood Baptist for 31 years. Her working background is in Nursing, having worked as a Registered Nurse at various hospitals and surgeries, ﬁnishing her career at Springwood Hospital in 2021. Her ministry background has mainly been in Children’s Ministry. Virginia and her husband have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren.

This varied experience has given her a passion for caring for people of all ages and stages, as well as a desire to see people feel valued, loved and “seen” in our church. Virginia very much believes we are all called to be the “hands and feet” of Jesus in our Church and beyond. We are called to love God and love others with whatever God has given us.
Virginia loves holidays, crosswords, reading, walking, and her grandkids (not necessarily in that order!)

Mark Mitchell - Church Administrator

Mark joined the team in July 2020. He has a background in pastoral and mission ministries and Christian book retailing. His desire is to help the pastoral team (staff and volunteers) to effectively serve our church family by giving them administrative support. Mark wants to become a spiritually centred person under the transforming hand of God. He loves swimming, reading, his family and living in the mountains.

Mariel Weeks - Office Manager

Mariel is our office manager. She manages to keep everything organised with a smile and great efficiency. Mariel is your first point of contact if you have a question or need help with something. She knows more about the Church than any two other people combined. Her hobbies are craft, gardening and travelling. We hate it when she goes on holidays however.
